GP with Special Interest in Headache & Migraine Service
At Migraine Specialist we are always looking for ways to improve the services we offer to headache and migraine patients. Not only do we focus on injectable therapy and CGRP’s, we also have a service available with our GP for those patients who:
- May be at the start of their migraine journey
- Need help navigating preventative medications
- Do not meet Medicare requirements yet for injectable therapy
- Require assistance with acute treatment plans
- Further investigations/testing.
We do however advise that acute headaches (<2 weeks) be referred for expedited investigations such as Emergency Department assessment.
What does this look like?
Our General Practitioner has a dedicated special interest in migraine and headache management. She has a thorough knowledge of all medications and treatments available and partakes in ongoing mentoring sessions, provided by our team of Neurologists.
Our appointments with patients are long consults (60 minutes) to allow extra time to run through a full patient history and discuss treatment plans, medication options and further investigations. Appointments are not rushed and allow the patient time to unload their past experiences and how their condition affects them. We also have a team of Registered Nurses who have spent years caring for migraine patients and provide phone support and triaging between visits.
We communicate regularly back to the patients usual GP, writing letters and keeping all interested parties informed of the treatment plan and any changes to medications.
How to book in?
Patients can call our rooms on (07) 3831 1611 to request a booking with our General Practitioner, and our team will discuss the process further with you.
