What is a Migraine?
A migraine is a neurological disorder that affects a high proportion of the global population.
Generally, migraine attacks are limited to one side of the head and are felt as a throbbing pain. In order for a person to meet the classification of having experienced a migraine, they must have had 5 or more attacks within their lifetime, each lasting 4-72 hours, that cause limitations to the daily routines of the individual.
Migraines, unlike headaches, are generally accompanied by other symptoms including but not limited to: light sensitivity, sound sensitivity and/or nausea.
Migraines are a serious neurological disorder
As migraines are complex in nature, they often require specialist treatment plans, above and beyond the important treatments that are offered over-the-counter (OTC) at pharmacies or from GPs.
Migraines affect 13% of the population
Migraines have a massive impact on the population. They not only cause immense pain and impact daily routine – the weight of them can also impact our mental state, home life and work life.
Women are twice as likely to be affected than men
Up to 18% of women are affected by migraines, a rate almost double that of men
You’ve experienced a migraine if…
You’ve experienced 5 or more throbbing headache attacks, that have lasted between 4 and 72 hours and included nausea or light/sound sensitivity, and have been severe enough to impact routine daily activity.

Our Approach
to Treatment
No two patients are the same, and as such we create tailored treatment plans to best suit your individual needs.
Following your initial assessment and first consultation with a Neurologist, your individualised management plan will be provided. The timing of further clinical follow up will depend on your particular treatment plan, and your response to this. We can also offer, in the event of an acute treatment breakthrough- an Occipital Nerve Block (ONB).
